Denim has quickly become the choice trend for Spring/Summer 2010. This season designers treated us to denim patchwork, shimmery finishes, and enough rips and tears to awaken the style rebel within.
Mulberry kept their denims flirtatiously feminine with belted jackets and sweet denim dresses, while D & G featured distressed denims jeans that were perfectly matched with leather accessories and handbags.
Whatever your style, here are quick tips for updating your look with denim this spring:
1. Distressed denim is a great way to showcase your signature style. Subtle rips and tears work best for the more conservative maven, while dramatic divas may prefer a more generously slashed leg-line.
2. A denim jacket is the perfect companion to the season's beautiful floral dresses and vivid prints. When selecting a denim jacket to pair with your dress, look for styles with darts and shaping for a figure flattering fit.
3. Shiny denim jeans are a stellar choice for a night out. The slight shimmer of the fabric gives a luxe look to denim that is stunning when worn with a gorgeous top and heels.
4. Dark wash denims paired with a blouse and heels give new meaning to day-time chic. To keep this look on point, ensure your jeans are hemmed long enough to be worn with heels. If flats are your preference, ensure the correct length is purchased to ensure the hem of your jean does not drag.
5. Denim skirts and dresses look simply divine with spring's embellished flats and flirty wedges. Elongate your leg-line by pairing a knee length denim skirt/dress with wedges or a heel. In contrast, higher hemlines are best balanced with flats.
